What is VoIP and how does it work?

VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) allows you to make and receive phone calls using your broadband connection instead of a traditional landline. You can use a VoIP-enabled handset, a mobile app, or a computer to make calls.

Can I keep my existing landline number?

Yes! We can transfer your current landline number to WicommsHome, so you don’t need to inform friends, family, or service providers of a new number.

Do I need special equipment?

You’ll need a VoIP-compatible handset or you can use our mobile app to make and receive calls. If you need a handset, we recommend the Yealink W73P (£150 including P&P), which comes pre-configured for easy setup.

Do I need a broadband connection?

Yes, WicommsHome requires a stable internet connection. If you already have broadband at home, you’re good to go!

What happens if my internet goes down?

If your internet connection is temporarily unavailable, you can still receive calls via our mobile app (with Lite or Connect+) or forward calls to your mobile number.

Are there any hidden fees?

No! Our pricing is simple: WH Lite (£9/month), WH Connect+ (£13.50/month) and WH Prime (£12.00/month). The only additional cost is the £30 one-off setup fee and VoIP handset (if applicable), which includes either a new number or number porting. There are no hidden fees, and you only pay extra if you exceed your included minutes.

Can I use my existing phone?

If you have a VoIP-enabled handset, it may be compatible with WicommsHome; please consult us beforehand. Traditional landline phones require an adapter, although we generally advise against this due to potential troubleshooting difficulties when an adapter is involved.
